How To Find The Right Foundation For Your Skin

1. Find Your Undertone Color The first thing you want to do is determine if your complexion has warm (yellow), cool (pink) or neutral undertones. One trick is to look at the veins in your wrist—if they appear blue or purple, you’re cool; green or olive, you’re warm and if they’re a mix of both, you’re neutral.

2. Select Your Desired Coverage Amount Do you want full, medium, partial or sheer coverage? How much of your natural skin do you want to show through your foundation? You’ll find foundation colors in all different types of coverage, so decide what finish you like best.
3. Test it out — Does it look natural? Once you’ve determined your tone, pick out a few colors to try. Make sure you test the foundations along your jawline in several lighting environments The right color of foundation will essentially disappear onto your skin. That’s your match! For people with richer skin tones, match to the center of your T-zone—the area around your forehead, nose and mouth.

4. Create Your Custom Color If you’re having trouble deciding between two similar shades, I recommend you go with the lighter option because you can always add a little custom color with a slightly darker foundation of the same time, or warm up your face with contouring, bronzer, or blush.

Facebook and Instagram Announcement

I am happy and proud to announce that I am officially started a beauty/fashion/lifestyle blog. This is something that I’ve been wanted to do for a very long time, but lacked the confidence and drive. Please know that I am not interested in copying other bloggers or women out there. I’m not doing this to be “insta-famous” or to be an instagram model or whatever. I simply want a creative outlet for the things I enjoy. I attempted to make a brief start about 4 years ago, but my busy job made my free time very limited. Those who know me only recently may not understand why I would be interested in this… But those who know me well know that I love hair, make-up, style, and so much more. (I used to be quite the fashionista) Granted, I took a step back the last four months from doing my hair and make up everyday, along with my love of fashion. Why? Two main reasons: life events and self evaluation. With my divorce in full swing and starting a new job, I wanted to just live life, day by day, without being overwhelmed with the societal expectations of being dolled up all the time. I also was trying to learn to love myself, without all the extras. Honestly, this was a huge help to my self confidence. But now, I’m ready to get this long lived dream of mine up and running.

That being said, my Instagram and Facebook will mostly be focused on growing my blog, The Shore Chic – A professional beach bum guide to beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. My personal take on fashion and beauty has morphed along the way and I can honestly say that I have learned to hone in on my own beach inspired style and I hope to inspire others.
